Insights

hmmm.. Where will I start? I guess I have to start with subject. What I know about finance, it has lots of computation, kind of accounting thing. But I was wrong when first meeting came. Actually, second meeting, I was absent during the first. Anyway, the subject was challenging. It made me do things that are new to me like the blogging. I've never done blogging until I met Ms. Marian Alaba. She is our Finance teacher that really encourage us to make a blog. In the blog consists discussions that were not done inside the classroom. According to her, it is our online classroom.
One thing I also cannot forget, is our field work. We had an interview with Mr. Jorlito Bacong, the owner of Bacong Fish Broker. Another thing that I did for finance is, when I made a video presentation. I was a call center agent but I am not really that savvy when it comes to movie making or video editing, except Powerpoint presentation.
Also, I haven't had a hard time coping with my classmates since I already know almost all of them. I just have to adjust with the schedule of my class because I have a 6am class.
I guess that's all for my semestral evalution..See you next semester for Finance 2...

My Interests ( Christine Pearl Maestrado)

Hey! Pearl here.. :-)

Well, in my 22 years of existence in this beautiful and wonderful world, I can say that there are lots of things that I’m interested at. One of which is music..It’s like the remedy for my soul..Whatever genre that is, music brings life to everything..Here's the link and the lyrics of the video clip of “We Belong Together” by Mariah Carey, my all-time favorite singer..I even want to have a voice like hers…eehehe..Enjoy!

We Belong Together

Ooh, oh, ooh, oh
Sweet love, yeah

I didn't mean it
When I said I didn't love you, so
I should have held on tight
I never shoulda let you go

I didn't know nothing
I was stupid, I was foolish
I was lying to myself

I could not fathom that I would ever
Be without your love
Never imagined I'd be
Sitting here beside myself

'Cause I didn't know you
'Cause I didn't know me
But I thought I knew everything
I never felt

The feeling that I'm feeling
Now that I don't hear your voice
Or have your touch and kiss your lips
?Cause I don't have a choice

Oh, what I wouldn't give
To have you lying by my side
Right here, ?cause baby

When you left I lost a part of me
It's still so hard to believe
Come back baby, please
'Cause we belong together

Who else am I gon' lean on
When times get rough?
Who's gonna talk to me on the phone
Till the sun comes up?
Who's gonna take your place?
There ain't nobody better
Oh, baby baby, we belong together

I can't sleep at night
When you are on my mind
Bobby Womack's on the radio
Saying to me

"If you think you're lonely now"
Wait a minute
This is too deep
(Too deep)
I gotta change the station

So I turn the dial
Trying to catch a break
And then I hear Babyface
"I only think of you"

And it's breaking my heart
I'm trying to keep it together
But I'm falling apart

I'm feeling all out of my element
I'm throwing things, crying
Trying to figure out
Where the hell I went wrong

The pain reflected in this song
It ain't even half of what
I'm feeling inside
I need you, need you back in my life, baby

When you left I lost a part of me
And it's still so hard to believe
Come back baby, please
'Cause we belong together

Who else am I gon' lean on
When times get rough?
Who's gonna talk to me on the phone
Till the sun comes up?
Who's gonna take your place?
There ain't nobody better
Oh, baby baby, we belong together, baby

When you left I lost a part of me
It's still so hard to believe
Come back baby, please
'Cause we belong together

Who am I gonna lean on
When times get rough?
Who's gonna talk to me
Till the sun comes up?
Who's gonna take your place?
There ain't nobody better
Oh baby, baby
We belong together

US Dollar - Philippine Peso Exchange Rate (1960s-2010) by Christine Pearl Maestrado

In November 1960, the decontrol program enlarged the amount of transactions valued at the free market rate to 50 percent of all foreign exchange receipts with the exchange rate at the free market reduced to P3.00 to $1.00.

On November 8, 1965, the decontrol program was completed and the peso was devalued to P3.90 to a dollar.

On February 21, 1970, the Philippines adopted the floating rate system with the first interbank guiding rate subsequently determined at P5.6282 to US$1.00 on February 24, 1970.

The peso's exchange rate experienced two hefty depreciations in 1983: from P10.083 per US$.00 in May to P11.0015 per US$1.00 in June (9.1 percent) and from P11.002 per US$1.00 in September to P14.002 per US$1.00 in October (27.3 percent).

After June 1984, when the peso depreciated by 28.6 percent from P14.002 to P18.002, the peso thereafter settled at P19.97 at the end of 1984 and appreciated by 7 percent to P18.4 in January 1985."

Sometime in 1990’s, the rate for $1.00 is P24.268.

For the past ten years, the rate for $1.00 is:

2000 = P 44.14

2001 = P51.002

2002 = P51.5762

2005= P55.0984

2010 = P43.679
